Emboo Camp is an eco-friendly safari camp refurbished by Asilia, within the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Eleven suites are surrounded by a shady tree canopy on a forested bend of the Talek River, with grunting hippos as the soundtrack. The camp is proud of its sustainable practices, including its fully electric fleet of Land Rovers and Land Cruisers for completely silent game drives. Organic produce straight from the hydroponic gardens, solar-powered electricity, natural materials, and a successful recycling programme complete the picture. Game drives aside, the camp has a swimming pool with scenic river views, a relaxing bush spa, and a running trail where you can practise keeping up with the Maasai!

Our Roonterra Opinion
  • Comfort with character
Under Asilia’s wing, Emboo has had a stylish makeover, bringing flair to the interiors without losing any of the eco-friendly ethos the camp was originally known for. They’ve also retained the same passionate hospitality team and guides, making it a camp that delivers on every front!

  • Explore the Maasai Mara in fully electric Land Rovers and Land Cruisers without any engine noise, allowing you to approach wildlife in the most silent, disturbance-free way possible. The Mara guarantees a daily spectacle of wildlife encounters, where the interactions between predator and prey are a constant reminder of the survival of the fittest. Perhaps you’ll come across an elephant herd drinking at the water, a lion pride sleeping in the sun, or a cheetah slinking through the grasses. Each game drive brings a new set of sightings, pointed out by your expert guide.

  • Emboo Camp can arrange visits to local villages to introduce visitors to Maasai culture, with a special focus on the role of Maasai women. There are plenty of opportunities to learn activities such as fire-making, tracking, and using a bow and arrow, as well as finding out about medicinal plants used in traditional practices.

  • Hot air balloon excursions launch at sunrise from a dedicated site in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. You’ll set off early on a game drive before soaring high above the plains for a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife roaming beneath. Upon landing, enjoy a champagne bush breakfast before continuing your morning safari activities. Please note that this activity incurs an additional fee.
